Retaining wall repairs to close road between Mahanoy, Gilberton

SAINT NICHOLAS – Traffic between Mahanoy City and Gilberton will be detoured through Shenandoah later this month as crews repair a retaining wall.
The closure is scheduled for July 17 through July 21 on Route 4030 between Gilberton borough and the Route 54 intersection in the village of Saint Nicholas in Mahanoy Township.
The road will be closed just west of the Route 54 split for retaining wall repairs, PennDOT told the Sentinel Friday. Traffic will be detoured through Shenandoah along Route 54 and Route 924.
Additional work in the area may be done later which could reduce traffic to a single lane.
