Two in custody after report of shots fired near MTA plant in Mahanoy Township

CRAIGS – Two men were taken into custody after shots were fired near the Mahanoy Township Authority water treatment plant in Mahanoy Township.

According to Mahanoy Township Police, officers were called to the area of the plant off Brandonville Road around 5:30pm Friday for a report of shots fired.

Two men, who were not identified, were taken into custody on trespassing charges and a handgun was secured as evidence.

“Criminal activity and reckless behavior within Mahanoy Township will be addressed proactively and without hesitation,” Mahanoy Township Police Chief Jody Long said.

Township police were assisted by Mahanoy City Borough Police.
