MOREA – A utility pole distributor has opened in Mahanoy Township, and is the newest customer on the Reading and Northern Railroad, the short-line railway announced last week.

Stella-Jones Corporation moved to Morea this year after its lease near Hazleton came to an end.

The company found land along the railway owned by Ettore DiCasimirro which was suitable for their operations and, on March 21, the first shipment via rail arrived at the yard.

The yard will service utilities in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Poles will be delivered to the yard by rail and will be delivered to the customers by truck.

The yard’s proximity to I-81 and alongside rail tracks makes it an ideal site.
