Block party season kicks off Friday with Englewood festival

ENGLEWOOD – Summertime is here! Well, coal region summer.

The Englewood Block Party kicks off Friday, May 22 at the Friendship Fire Co. in the Englewood section of Butler Township. It runs through Sunday, May 24.

The event is a traditional kickoff to summer in the area and, of course, block party season.

Kitchen opens at noon all three days and features all sorts of block party favorites: pierogies, bleenies, halushki, kielbasi, and more.

Friday night is the lights-and-sirens fire truck parade. It begins at 7:30pm. Registration and apparatus judging begins at 5:30pm.

Hooligan takes the stage Friday night at 7:30pm and plays until 11:30pm.

Saturday night is Eyes on Saturn, performing from 7pm to 11pm.

Finally, Sunday, it’s polka time. The Shenandoah All-Star Polka Band performs from 2pm to 6pm.
