Hazleton Police warn of scam mailers
HAZLETON – If you live in the Hazleton area and received a mailer purporting to request donations for the police force, it’s likely a scam.
The Hazleton Police Department said the letters were not authorized by the department.
They are from the U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association and claim to be from “Hazleton Police Outreach.”
“Please be advised the Hazleton Police Department would NEVER send letters requesting money or donations,” the department said.
If you receive or have received one of the letters, the department says you should simply throw the letter away.
