RINGTOWN – Many communities are struggling to find police officers, and the valley is no exception.

Mayor Phil Beaver told council at Tuesday night’s meeting that “The search continues.”

“I wish I had more to tell you, I really do,” Beaver said.

“It’s all over the place,” Council President Len Kamarousky said.

Beaver said many candidates are only seeking full-time positions, which are plentiful.

“So it’s not a money issue even,” Council Vice-President Tom Murray said.

“No. They’re not accepting part-time jobs, they just want straight full-time,” Beaver said. “I will continue my search. Hopefully by next month, I’ll have something.”

Council also discussed pay rates and potentially advertising in a print newspaper in either Schuylkill or Columbia County, though no decision was made.
