Pottsville Film Festival features Shenandoah area connections
POTTSVILLE – A film festival in Pottsville is set to showcase independent film, creativity, community, including a film focused on a local staple.
The Pottsville Film Festival returns for a second year from May 29-31.
It will take place at the Majestic Theater in downtown Pottsville and hopes to build on momentum gained in the first year.
More than 100 films have been submitted from near and far.
There are plenty of northern Schuylkill connections featured in this year’s festival.
In Film Block 2, Kielbasy Heaven will be screened. It was produced by Florida State University students and is focused on Shenandoah’s Kowalonek’s Kielbasy Shop.
Additionally, the festival is led by an area native, Al Miscannon. Originally from West Mahanoy Township and a graduate of the Shenandoah Valley High School, he is now chair of the Pottsville Film Festival Committee.
“This festival is about more than screenings,” said Al Miscannon, Chair of the Pottsville Film
Festival Committee. “It’s about creating energy in our downtown, driving visitors to our
restaurants and shops, and positioning Pottsville as a destination for arts and culture.”
Also notable, Richard Kline, who played Larry Dallas on Three’s Company, will be there and will hold a comedy workshop and Q&A with fans.
