One injured in crash at Penn State Hazleton

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A Honda Fit sits damaged after it struck the stone sign at Penn State Hazleton.

SUGARLOAF TWP., Luzerne County – One person was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, after striking the stone sign at the entrance to Penn State Hazleton, campus police told the Sentinel.

The crash happened around 7:00pm Tuesday at the school’s entrance at Route 93 and Woodbine Street in Sugarloaf Township.

Penn State Police at the scene said the driver was headed west on Route 93 in a Honda Fit when they lost control of the vehicle, drove off the north side of the road, and hit the sign.

The driver was the only occupant, and was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Falzone Towing towed the vehicle from the scene.

Assisting Penn State Police at the scene were police from Conyngham and Sugarloaf Township, firefighters from Sugarloaf Township, and emergency medical personnel from Sugarloaf Township and Geisinger EMS – Berwick Area.
