MAHANOY CITY – The Lady Bears are moving on to the District XI title game, after a dominating home performance against Williams Valley.

Mahanoy Area, the #1 seed, took an early lead over the Vikings and never looked back.

The Bears held a 9-0 advantage before the Vikings scored a single point — literally, from a free throw — late in the first quarter.

Williams Valley quickly added another two points to the board, as did Mahanoy, giving the Bears an 11-3 advantage entering the second.

At halftime, Mahanoy held a 17-8 lead.

The gap remained largely unchanged by the end of the third, with the score 35-27, though Mahanoy’s lead totaled in the double digits at one point in the third.
