Crash knocks out power in Union; no one injured

UNION TWP. – No one was hurt when an SUV struck a pole and spun through a yard and into a field here Wednesday night.

The crash happened around 10:00pm in the area of 255 Aristes Road.

Union Township Police said a Chevy Equinox was headed east on Aristes Road towards Ringtown when the vehicle swerved into the oncoming lane.

The SUV then swerved back into the travel lane to avoid an oncoming car and lost control, striking and shearing a utility pole.

The vehicle then travelled through the yard of 255 Aristes Road, destroying its mailbox, before spinning and coming to a rest in a nearby field.

Neither the driver nor passenger were hurt in the crash, though the SUV was totalled.

Power was out in the area Wednesday evening as a result of the wreck.

PPL Electric Utilities responded to the scene to make repairs and restore power.

Steve’s Towing, Shenandoah, removed the vehicle.

Responding to the scene to assist Union Township Police were firefighters from Ringtown Valley, Shenandoah, and Aristes, as well as Shenandoah Ambulance.
