RINGTOWN – An annual celebration is set at the oldest church in our area.

Faithful will gather at the Old White Church, St. Paul’s Union Church, at Brandonville Road and Cemetery Hill in Union Township this Thursday, May 14 at 10am for the annual Ascension Day Service.

Rev. Kenneth Melber, assistant to the Bishop of the Northeast Pennsylvania Synod, Hazleton-Lehighton and Schuylkill Mission Districts will serve as guest speaker.

A light luncheon will follow at the Ringtown Valley Senior Center on West Main Street in the borough.

The church was built as a wood-frame meeting house in 1842 and replaced a prior log church built around 1810. It is the oldest church in northern Schuylkill County.
