NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a compilation of police incidents handled by the Pennsylvania State Police in and around the Sentinel’s coverage area recently.

Ringtown pair cited for harassment after fight in Brandonville
Two men from Ringtown will face harassment charges after they pushed and shoved each other in an argument early Thursday morning.

Troopers from the Frackville barracks say around 1:47am on January 30, Bradley Dye, 26, and Jason Wetzel, 45, were engaged in a verbal argument over borrowing a vehicle.

The argument subsequently turned physical when both parties began pushing and shoving each other.

Both will be cited for harassment.

Windshield smashed in Girardville
Troopers are investigating an act of criminal mischief in Girardville which occurred last night.

Around 8:00pm Wednesday, troopers from the Frackville barracks say a pickup truck’s rear windshield was smashed in the area of 145 West Ogden Street.

Barnesville man escapes injury in Park Crest crash
A 62 year old man escaped injury when he crashed his Hyundai near Park Crest Tuesday night.

State Police at Frackville say Joel T. Garber, 62 of Barnesville was headed eastbound on Ball Diamond Road in Ryan Township around 8:45pm Tuesday night when his vehicle, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The vehicle had minor damage to its front bumper and hood, and came to a final stop facing east. 

Garber told troopers he closed his eyes while yawning before the crash happened.

No airbags were deployed, and Garber was uninjured and wearing his seatbelt.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by John M. Grutza Towing.

New Boston woman charged for dumping in Delano Township
A 54-year-old New Boston woman is facing scattering rubbish charges after troopers say she dumped several trash bags at the I-81 ramp near Delano.

According to State Police at Frackville, troopers found several garbage bags at Grier Avenue and I-81 North. An investigation into the matter revealed that Renee Saylor, 54, of New Boston, placed the bags at the location.

Saylor was subsequently cited for scattering rubbish.

Nuremberg man charged for fight
A Nuremberg man is in Schuylkill County Prison on simple assault charges after a fight at 33 West Brush Street in the village this past Saturday.

Troopers were called to the home around just before 10:00pm for the fight, where a 42-year-old man, Jeremy Schlauch, had fought and struck two males multiple times.

Schlauch was taken into custody on simple assault and harassment charges and arraigned by on-call magisterial district judge David Plachko and committed to county prison, unable to pay 10% of $25,000 bail.

Minersville man escapes injury in I-81 crash
A Minersville man was uninjured when he spun his car in rainy and windy conditions on I-81 last Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 11:00am Saturday near mile marker 127 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

21-year-old Damy Cintron, of Minersville, was headed northbound in a 2012 Hyundai Veloster in rainy and windy conditions with bald rear tires, which troopers say were down to the cords in spots.

Cintron lost control, sliding off the right side of the northbound lanes onto the grassy roadside, spinning 190 degrees. The vehicle continued into a ditch, striking an embankment with it’s rear end before spinning 180 degrees and striking it again with its front end.

Cintron was uninjured and seatbelted in the crash, and his car was towed from the scene.

Altamont and Ryan Township firefighters assisted at the scene, and Cintron will be cited for speeding.

Troopers investigating identity theft in Girardville
State Police at Frackville are investigating an act of identity theft impacting a victim from Girardville.

Troopers received a report on January 22 that a Girardville man’s name and date of birth were used to open an electrical utilities account in Orlando, Florida with a balance of $469.

Zion Grove teen uninjured in rollover crash in Beaver Township
A Zion Grove teenager escaped injury after a crash on Route 339 between Mainville and Zion Grove earlier this month.

According to troopers from the Bloomsburg barracks, the crash happened just before 4:00pm on January 7, when a 16-year-old from Zion Grove was headed south on Route 339.

The 2004 Honda CRV she was driving slid through a left-hand turn in sudden snowy conditions, crossing into the oncoming lane and off the shoulder.

The vehicle then struck an embankment with its front bumper before spinning and overturning.

The teen was seatbelted and uninjured in the crash.

Shenandoah woman facing drug charges after reported vehicle crash in Humboldt
A Shenandoah woman is facing charges after a reported vehicle accident in Humboldt just before the new year.

Just before 11:00pm on Dec. 30, troopers from the Hazleton barracks. were called to a reported crash on the CanDo Expressway near I-81.

Troopers arrived and found no crash, though a 2005 Toyota Avalon occupied by an unresponsive female was stopped in the lane of travel.

Loriann Azar, 56, of Shenandoah, was identified as the female and was arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance.

Troopers investigating burglary in Mahanoy Township
State Police at Frackville are investigating a reported burglary at a home in the 900 block of West Centre Street in Mahanoy Township.

Police were called to the home around 5:40pm on January 20 for reports that $300 had been taken from the home between 10:00pm on Jan. 19 and 5:00pm on Jan. 20.
