ENGLEWOOD – A Pottsville man was arrested today after fleeing a domestic disturbance in a U-Haul and crashing over a washed-out road into a creek.

According to Frackville Police Chief Rick Bell, officers were called to the Econo Lodge on Middle Street for reports of a domestic disturbance.

Bell said a man, identified as Vincent Davalos, 25, of Pottsville, was seen loading items, including a rifle, into a U-Haul.

Officers arrived to find the U-Haul leaving the area, and, once Davalos saw police vehicles, he fled.

“We activated emergency lights and sirens and he continued to flee turning west on Arch St from S Lehigh Ave,” Bell said. “Eventually Davalos turned onto Walnick Rd and drove around a cement barricade where it was posted Road Closed, and drove down the road and off the washed out bridge, dropping about 25 feet down.”

From the crash site, Davalos fled on foot towards West Wood Lane, where he was apprehended by state troopers.

Bell said the Davalos was in possession of suspected controlled substances at the time of arrest, and was wanted by PA State Parole on a warrant.

Davalos was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale on charges of fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, speeding, and stop sign violations.

Davalos was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail
