MAHANOY CITY – Dozens of Mahanoy Area faithful gathered outside the Citizens firehouse on Centre Street and throughout town to welcome their champion boys’ basketball squad and wrestling state qualifier home.
The boys basketball team, joined by wrestler Kyler Quick, were paraded through town aboard a school bus, flanked by fire apparatus from Mahanoy City, Barnesville, Delano, and Mahanoy Plane.
Quick qualified for the PIAA State Championship wrestling meet in Hershey, while the basketball team won their second straight District XI 2A title, continuing their undefeated campaign.
