PennDOT plans paving work on Lofty Road between Delano, I-81 overpass; road to be closed

DELANO – If you’ve driven Lofty Road between the villages of Delano and Lofty, you know how rough a ride it can be.
Well, PennDOT says it has paving work planned for that stretch beginning May 1.
According to a news release, PennDOT will close Lofty Road and a detour will be in place using Route 309 and Interstate 81.
The project will begin May 1 and is expected to be wrapped up on May 26.
PennDOT says the stretch to be paved is between Hazle Street and the Interstate 81 overpass.
For much of that stretch, the northbound lane is largely deteriorated in some sections.
