Man escapes injury in latest Sheppton Mountain crash

SHEPPTON – A man was unharmed in the latest crash on what’s quickly becoming known as a dangerous stretch of Route 924.

The crash happened around 3:30pm Tuesday on Route 924 between Sheppton and Brandonville.

A Toyota minivan lost control and rolled in the roadway.

The driver was unharmed, but his vehicle had to be towed.

Sheppton-Oneida Fire provided traffic control at the scene and State Police are investigating.

Tuesday’s crash was not far from where a Hazleton man was killed about a month ago in a two-car collision.

Between January of 2013 and December of 2022, PennDOT data shows there have been 15 crashes in that stretch.

State Police data shows three crashes between January 2020 and June of 2022, all of which they blamed the driver.

Recently, first responders have been complaining about slick roadway conditions in that area.
