Man arrested for Hazleton shooting

HAZLETON – A man is in the hospital and another in the Luzerne County lockup after a shooting in the southwest side of the city Wednesday night.

Police were called to the 100 block of South Vine Street just before 6pm Wednesday for a reported shooting.

Officers said Victor Perez, of Freeland, had confronted the victim there before firing several shots at the man, hitting him in the arm.

Perez fled the city and was arrested at his home by White Haven Police and State Police.

He is facing felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor reckless endangerment charges and was arraigned Thursday morning. He was committed to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.
