Junedale woman injured after striking house, rolling car

JUNEDALE, Carbon County – A 57-year-old woman was taken to a Hazleton hospital after a crash in this Banks Township village earlier this week.

The crash happened around 11:30am Monday in the unit block of Main Street in the village, state police said Thursday.

Troopers said 57-year-old Sharon Chehovich, of Junedale, was headed eastbound on Main Street in a 2017 Kia Sportage when she left the left-hand side of the roadway.

The vehicle struck a concrete block in the front yard of 3 Main Street, continued through the yard of 5 Main Street, before jumping a retaining wall and striking 7 Main Street, destroying the home’s enclosed porch before rolling over.

Chehovich was rescued from the vehicle and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazleton by McAdoo EMS for treatment of injuries. She was seatbelted in the car.

The front porch of 7 Main Street was destroyed and the porch for the adjoining 9 Main Street home also was damaged.

Responding to the scene along with State Police were firefighters from Beaver Meadows, Hazle Township, McAdoo, and Weatherly, along with LVHN EMS, McAdoo EMS, and Zenier’s Towing.
