SHEPPTON – After 18 years in office, voters have chosen to replace Jon Dettery as East Union Township Supervisor.

Wendy Danchision soundly defeated the three-term incumbent by 138 votes in Tuesday’s election.

At the polls in the evening, Danchision remarked on the turnout, which exceeded 600 in the rural township.

“It’s a great turnout,” Danchision told the Sentinel. “There’s a lot of people that showed up today that shows that people want change. People want something different, which is exciting.”

“We need to move this township forward, and its time that we show the people of this township what they’ve been missing for all these years,” Danchision said. “The simple things. Roads. More police presence. Snowplowing.”

Dettery said he hoped his record would stand for itself.

“The reason why I’m here 18 years is for the people,” Dettery said. “To make East Union Township a great place to live.”
