Downed pole closes lane of Tuscarora Mtn. Road

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A vehicle passes by a downed utility pole on Tuscarora Mountain Drive in Ryan Township on Dec. 10, 2020.

RYAN TWP. – One lane of Tuscarora Mountain Road is closed in this township after a utility pole came down Thursday.

Ryan Township firefighters closed the southbound lane between Chee Street and Locust Creek around 9:00pm.

A previously-damaged utility pole, reportedly owned by Frontier Communications, came down, with the remaining upper portion hanging suspended a few feet above the southbound lane.

According to radio communications, Frontier refused to respond to the incident, and fire officials attempted to contact Service Electric Cablevision, whose lines are also on the pole, to resolve the issue.

No power lines were attached to the pole.
