SHAMOKIN – The first annual Friendship Fire Co. car show brought dozens of classic and cool cars to this Northumberland County city Saturday afternoon.

Cars and trucks, ranging from modern Camaros to classic roadsters, lifted pickups to a VW Bus, lined the 200 and 300 blocks of East Independence Street until 4pm.

One car, a 2012 Chevy Camaro nicknamed “Smoke”, was a moving tribute to veterans and first responders.

The car is owned by Beth McCarty, whose late husband was a Marine. Adorned with a patriotic wrap on the outside, Marine Corps insignias can be found under the hood, inside the car itself, and even on the fenders.

Much of the car was adorned with signatures from veterans and active duty service members. A sign displayed under the hood indicated it would be McCarty’s honor for them to sign the car.
