Car hits vacant home, left for weeks

BUTLER TWP. – State Police are investigating a crash on Powder Mill Road outside Girardville which apparently happened several weeks ago and was reported today.

Girardville firefighters were called around 5:30pm to a home at 4 Powder Mill Road for a vehicle accident, with a vehicle reportedly striking a house.

Firefighters from the Rangers and Girard Hose fire companies were on scene within minutes, finding a red Mini Cooper which had struck the side porch of a home. Airbags were deployed in the vehicle, but no one was found in the area.

Fire officials said crash apparently happened several weeks ago, and the vehicle has been sitting there ever since.

State Police at Frackville were called to the scene and are investigating the incident.
