Coroner called to Butler Twp. fire scene

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Firefighters at the scene of Friday's blaze on Brown Lane in Butler Township.

BUTLER TWP. – At least one person is dead and another was flown to the hospital after flames decimated a home near Fountain Springs early Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to 34 Brown Lane around 12:30am for reports of a fire.

Crews arrived to find a house well-involved with one person on the roof.

Firefighters from across northern Schuylkill County along with EMS agencies from Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties responded to the scene.

One person jumped from the roof and was found by firefighters in a wooded area. They were taken to a local hospital via LifeFlight, which landed at the fire scene.

The Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office was on scene this morning, as was the State Police Fire Marshal.

Fire crews on the scene Friday morning indicated at least two people were unaccounted for.

Fire crews from Fountain Springs, Lavelle, Englewood, Altamont, Ashland, Gordon, Aristes, Wilburton, Shenandoah, and more responded to the scene along with Shenandoah, Ashland, Minersville, and Area Services EMS.

  1. She wasn’t found by fire fighters. Ems had her jump because if she didn’t she would have died, she would have ended up going down with the roof when it collapsed. If it wasn’t for the emt and police that were telling her that she needed to jump and instructing her how to do it all she probably wouldn’t be here.
