Borough police ID man shot on N. West St; investigation ongoing

SHENANDOAH – Borough police have identified the man shot at a home on North West Street this morning, though further details as to who shot him or why remain few.

Borough Police Chief George Carado said police were called to 26 North West Street around 9:30am for a reported shooting.

Police spoke to Quran Naim Rash Newsome, 25, with a last known address in Scranton, who said he was shot in the leg.

Newsome was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and later released.

Carado said the investigation is ongoing.

Borough police were assisted at the scene by Mahanoy City, West Mahanoy Township, and Frackville police, along with the Pennsylvania State Police.
