Car catches fire in Pottsville crash

POTTSVILLE – Details were few at the scene of a fiery crash in the Mill Creek section of the city Friday evening.

The crash happened around 7:30pm at Mill Creek Avenue and Route 61.

Pottsville Police at the scene had few details to share, though at least three vehicles were involved in the crash, at least two of which received fire damage.

A Hyundai Veloster and a Chevy Traverse collided head-on near the Nichols Street exit for the Pottsville Diner lot, the former of which caught fire.

Firefighters from the Pottsville City Bureau of Fire responded and made quick work of the fire.

Another vehicle, a Ford Escape, in the parking lot of the Pottsville Diner was also damaged and towed from the scene.

Womer’s Towing removed the vehicles.

The status of the vehicles’ occupants was unknown as of Friday night.
