Shenandoah man arrested in Luzerne County on warrant, drug charges Saturday

WEST HAZLETON, Luzerne County – A Shenandoah man was taken into custody by police in this borough Saturday on drug charges and an arrest warrant.
According to West Hazleton Police, officers encountered Jared George Azar, 24, of Shenandoah at the Pantry Quik, and proceeded to take him into custody on a Schuylkill County arrest warrant.
Shortly thereafter, police discovered Azar was in possession of heroin and crystal methamphetamine, intending to deliver or distribute them, according to police.
Azar was subsequently charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Azar was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Dixon, Hazle Township, and committed to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, unable to post bail.
