LUZERNE COUNTY – State Police at Hazleton released details on a variety of incidents in lower Luzerne County from the past week.
4/17/2019 – Crash
DORRANCE TOWNSHIP – A Mountain Top man escaped injury when he wrecked his Honda Civic on Blue Ridge Trail in Dorrance Township.
The crash occurred around 10:30pm on Wednesday, April 17, when Robert Werner, 27, of Mountain Top, was travelling along the rural road and lost control.
The vehicle struck a telephone pole and sustained disabling damage. The vehicle was removed by Ayer’s Towing.
Werner was uninjured, though he will face speeding charges after the crash.
4/19/2019 – Crash
PACKER TOWNSHIP, Carbon County – Troopers from the Hazleton barracks are investigating a hit-and-run crash just across the Luzerne/Carbon line in Packer Township.
The crash occurred around 7:00am on Friday, April 19, when an unknown vehicle struck a banister railing at 1561 Hudson Drive, between Beaver Meadows and Weatherly.
The vehicle then fled in an unknown direction.

4/21/2019 – Child Endangerment
HAZLE TOWNSHIP – A Weatherly woman is behind bars after troopers say she was under the influence of a controlled substance while caring for a 6-year-old.
Around 3:30pm on Sunday, troopers were called to the Hazle Township Turkey Hill for reports of a domestic dispute in progress. One of the parties involved, Jocelyn Tiglio, 24, of Weatherly, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance while she had her 6-year-old daughter with. Tiglio was also in possession of a controlled substance, troopers said.
Tiglio is facing charges of Endangering Welfare of Children, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Public Drunkenness.
She was housed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.
4/21/2019 – Drug Possession
FOSTER TOWNSHIP – A White Haven man is facing drug possession charges after a variety of drugs were found in his pickup truck.
According to troopers, around 2:15am Sunday, they stopped a red Dodge pickup in the area of Valley Road and Owl Hole Road in Foster Township.
The operator of the truck, Timothy Jones, 28, of White Haven, was determined to be under the influence and admitted to using illegal drugs, troopers said.
Troopers subsequently searched the truck and found heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, and various paraphernalia.
