Work ongoing to replace traffic lights, handicap ramps downtown

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - The traffic light at Main and Washington Streets in Shenandoah on June 17, 2020.

SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah’s downtown traffic lights, as well as handicapped ramps, will be replaced soon, borough officials said.

Workers from PennDOT, Telco Traffic Solutions of Bern Township, among others were at work at Main and Washington Streets today.

Borough Manager Tony Sajone said the workers are replacing the traffic lights and handicapped ramps in the downtown area.

No Parking signs are posted at various intersections, including Main and Centre Streets, restricting parking between Thursday June 18 and Friday, June 26.

Sajone said the work will likely involve each intersection in the downtown area, but he isn’t sure if the work will involve replacing only the traffic lights themselves or the poles too.
