Two injured in Fountain Springs crash

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - The scene of Sunday's crash in Fountain Springs.

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – Two people were injured when a pickup truck and a Toyota Prius collided in this Butler Township village Sunday night.

The crash happened just before 9:00pm outside 710 Fountain Street.

Butler Township Police said in a media release that Dennis Bendrick, of 710 Fountain Street, was backing his Ford F-150 and U-Haul trailer into the driveway when the vehicle was struck by a passing Toyota Prius.

Both vehicles came to a rest in the yard of the home, and the mailbox was also damaged.

The driver of the Prius — Gretchen Letterman, of Mt. Carmel — was taken to a local hospital by Washington Fire Co. Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

A passenger in the F-150 — Leah Moyer, of 710 Fountain Street — was treated at the scene by Frackville EMS and refused transport.

Firefighters from Fountain Springs and Englewood responded to the scene as well.

Route 61 was down to one lane while crews worked to clean up the scene.

Klischer’s Motors, Aristes, towed the vehicles.
