Spring concert, jazz festival on deck at North Schuylkill
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – Two events coming up at the North Schuylkill High School will highlight local scholastic musicians.
The North Schuylkill High School Spring Concert is set for Thursday, April 30.
It will take place at 7pm at the high school auditorium and feature the jazz band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble, all under the direction of Jacob Shoener.
Then, on Friday, May 8, the third annual North Schuylkill High School Jazz Festival will take place.
It starts at 6pm and features seven high school bands and the M&J Big Band of Pottsville.
It will be adjudicated by John Maurer, a renown trumpet artist; Scott Blanke, a woodwind specialist, and Ravi Seenarine, a regular in the Philadelphia area jazz scene.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
This event is supported by the North Schuylkill Band Boosters Association, with additional grant assistance from the Pottsville Benevolent Association and the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation.
Participating bands include North Schuylkill, Shenandoah Valley, Williams Valley, Pottsville, Blue Mountain, and Conrad Weiser, among others.
