SHENANDOAH – A pair of Shenandoah Valley students were recently awarded National Honor Society scholarships and were selected as semi-finalsts for the NHS Scholarship Award.

The two are among 575 who will receive scholarships of $3,200 to go towards their higher education.

Emily Demalis, daughter of Anthony and Judy Demalis, and Katilyn Hepler, daughter of Jason and Jennifer Hepler, both seniors, received the scholarships.

Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of the NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of the NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
