SV girls’ hold off Tri-Valley for victory, 29-23

SHENANDOAH – The Lady Devils’ held off Tri-Valley to score their fourth win on the season Friday evening.

Tri-Valley jumped out to an early lead in the first, with baskets by Amanda Maxwell and Emily McCormick putting the Dawgs up 5-0 midway through the first quarter, though the lead was short-lived.

Free throws by SV’s Victoria Donovan put the Lady Devils’ on the board. Followed up by Donovan and Buchanan baskets, and Shenandoah would take the lead 6-5, a lead which they wouldn’t relinquish for the remainder of the game.

By halftime, Shenandoah would lead 18-6, and the lead would grow to 27-12 midway through the third.

Tri-Valley would chip away at the lead in the fourth, coming within 8 as about a minute remained in the game. Shenandoah’s defense would hold, though, and Shenandoah would hold off the Dawg’s late game charge to win 29-23.

Donovan led the Devils’ in scoring on the night with 13, followed by Emily Demalis with 6, Alyssa Buchanan with 5, Abby Conroy with 3, and Joie Rodnick with 2.

Shenandoah improves to 4-8 on the year, and will face Lourdes this coming Monday in a road matchup.
