Street sweeping begins in local communities

SHENANDOAH – It’s that time of year again, time for regular street sweeping in local communities.

In Shenandoah, the borough’s street sweeper began its monthly routes last Wednesday, and the borough police department issued a notice to residents ahead of time.

“The Shenandoah Police wants to remind everyone to move their vehicles during the designated days and times for the street sweeper. All vehicles must be moved or tickets will be issued,” the department said in a statement.

​The department added that a full street sweeping schedule is available at borough hall, which has been published at the end of this article.

​In Mahanoy City, street sweeping was conducted this week, on Monday and Wednesday. Borough crews swept the north side of all east-west streets, and the west side of all north-south streets on Monday, and the opposite on Wednesday.

First Monday of the Month
5:30am to 7am – Main Street from Washington to the Gold Star Bridge — both sides.
8am to 11am – Coal Street from Emerick to Race — north side.
Washington Street from Walnut to Bower — south side.
Bower Street from Washington to Cherry — west side.
Emerick Street from Cherry to Washington — east side.
Chestnut Street from Washington to Poplar — west side.
Gilbert Street from Poplar to Washington — east side.

First Tuesday of the Month
7am to 11am – Washington Street from Bower to Walnut — north side.
Coal Street from Race to Emerick — south side.
Emerick Street from Coal to Cherry — west side.
Bower Street from Cherry to Washington — east side.
Gilbert Street from Washington to Poplar — west side.
Chestnut Street from Poplar to Washington — east side.

First Wednesday of the Month
5:30am to 7am – Main Street from Washington to the Gold Star Bridge — both sides.
Centre Street from Vine to Franklin — south side.
8am to 11am– White Street from Cherry to Washington — east side.
Lloyd Street from the eastern dead end to Vine Street — north side.
