SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Valley High School named Jacob Coolbaugh and Emily Petritsch students of the month for October and November respectively.

Both are seniors.

Coolbaugh’s community service activities include: Pumpkin festival, Summer Art Program – President, Concession stands at Volleyball, Soccer, and Football games, Grinch play, block party concessions, and “anything I can do when I’m free.”

School activities include: National Arts Honor Society- President, Summer Art Program, Drama Club – Vice President, National Honors Society, Student Council- Secretary, Cheerleading, Announcing, Yearbook Committee, color guard – co captain, concert band, Aevidum – Vice President, ADL Youth Conference member, Lady Devils volleyball and Junior Varsity Lady Devils basketball announcer.

He describes his personal interests as “truly helping people.”

“When I see people happy it makes me feel happy, I have a lot of interests. I love all of the activities in school that I do,” Coolbaugh wrote. “I personally am interested the most in acting…acting is my dream career. I love being active, I am constantly on my feet, I love volleyball, I love volunteering, I also love my academics, I love to set high goals for myself and I am very interested in following and accomplishing all of them.”

His future plans are to go to college for acting to become a Broadway actor, and in the future go into
directing and possibly even film-making.

“I also plan on staying connected to Shenandoah Valley, the school I grew up in, in order to help out as much as I can at Shenandoah Valley and to help the kids see what it was like when I grew up here,” Coolbaugh wrote. “I want to stay active with all of the extracurriculars I did in high school and even more, I have a lot of plans and I am determined to accomplish them all.”

Petritsch’s community service activities include: Kielbasa fest, volunteer at Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association, and PTO safe trick or treat volunteer, and DAR good citizens award.

School Activities include: president of Aevidum, treasurer of National Honors Society, treasurer of student council, 4 years of volleyball, 4 years of being the class of 2024 historian, manager of the girls basketball team for 3 seasons, art national honors society, participant in the ADL youth conference for 2 years, yearbook committee, spring queen candidate, and homecoming court

She says her personal interests are “fishing with my grandfather and dad, hunting with my uncle, and I enjoy making crafts and using my cricut to make shirts and cups.”

Her future plans are to pursue a career in the Emergency Services field.
