LOWER AUGUSTA TWP., Northumberland County – A K-9 with our area’s search-and-rescue team has received a protective vest, thanks to a generous donation.

Central Region 49 SAR announced the vest donation today at a training in Lower Augusta Township, near Sunbury.

K-9 Charlotte wore the vest during the training. The vest, donated by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., of East Taunton, MA, is a bullet and stab protective vest.

According to a media release, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., was established in 2009 to assisted law enforcement agencies with such equipment for its K9 officers, and has provided over 3,500 custom fitted vests, thanks to private and corporate donations.

Central Region 49 SAR, based in Northumberland County, covers Schuylkill County and was most recently called to our area to assist in a search-and-rescue effort near Ashland a few weeks ago.
