SHENANDOAH – No matter what, a product of Schuylkill County will be a finalist in the Pennsylvania Chamber’s Coolest Thing Made in PA contest.

Our borough’s own Mrs. T’s Pierogies defeated Bradford-based Zippo to move into the final four of the contest.

“The Coolest Thing Made in PA competition celebrates the commonwealth’s storied history and continued leadership in manufacturing,” the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry says on their website. “From the steel that built our nation’s cities, the food that feeds our families, and the cutting-edge technology driving tomorrow’s innovation and exploration — Pennsylvania makes it all.”

Yuengling, of Pottsville, faces Mrs. T’s in the semifinal. They defeated Peach Glen-based Musselman’s Applesauce in the quarterfinal.

The final will be a battle of east and west, with a Schuylkill County product facing Altoona’s Sheetz or Pittsburgh’s Primanti Bros.

Voting is done on the PA Chamber’s Twitter page, and 32 businesses from across the Commonwealth were in the bracket.

Semifinal voting opens tomorrow and runs through Friday, and the final will be voted on on Monday, April 3.
