HAZLE TWP. – Two men from metro New York are in Luzerne County Prison after state troopers, responding to a burglar alarm, found them inside a jewelry store near Hazleton.

State Police at Hazleton said the incident happened just before 3am Saturday at Bambam The Jewelry on North Church Street in Hazle Township.

Troopers said they were dispatched there for an alarm and arrived to find the front door had been shattered.

Inside, they found 31-year-old Yermanni Suarez Laureano, of Yonkers, and 45-year-old Victor Manuel Herrera-Garcia, of the Bronx.

Troopers said they were responsible for smashing the front door and were arrested on felony burglary and criminal mischief charges.

A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 11 at 9am in Luzerne County Central Court.
