PSP: Girardville man attempted knife attack; victim arrested on warrants, swings at trooper

GIRARDVILLE – Two men are facing charges after an altercation on North William Street here Wednesday afternoon.

State Police at Frackville were called to the unit block of North William Street around 12:40pm for a report of an attempted assault with a knife.

The victim, Edward Brown, 58, of Doylestown, told troopers that Edward Conapitski, 22, of Girardville, attempted to attack him with a knife, troopers said.

Brown told troopers that Conapitski was yelling at him while holding a knife, and fled into the Unity Market.

Troopers ran Brown’s name, and found that he had multiple warrants, and they attempted to take him into custody. Brown then became combative, swung a closed fist at troopers, and had to be physically restrained.

Both men were taken into custody and charges were filed.

Brown faces charges of Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor Resisting Arrest, and Summary Disorderly Conduct. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $50,000 bail.
