PSP: Ashland man pinned woman, swiped phone to distribute ‘sexually explicit’ photos

BARRY TWP. – An Ashland man is facing felony robbery charges, among others, after state troopers say he pinned a Gordon woman in an attempt to steal her phone and distribute “sexually explicit photos” of her.

The incident happened around 1:00am on April 8 on Mabel Road in Barry Township, when troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks said Samuel Hepler, 22, and a 21-year-old Gordon woman engaged in a verbal argument.

Hepler threatened to distribute “sexually explicit photos” of the woman, at which point she tried to get help from Hepler’s mother.

Hepler then grabbed the woman, held her with his arms wrapped around her, then pinned her to the ground.

In the struggle, Hepler took the woman’s iPhone by force. The woman managed to escape, fleeing to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

Hepler is charged with felony robbery, misdemeanor sexual extortion, misdemeanor theft, and summary harrasment.
