Police: Two killed, one injured in Butler fire

BUTLER TWP. – A woman and child were killed by a fast moving blaze early Friday morning near Fountain Springs.

According to Butler Township Police, Alison Marie Houser, 29, and Andrew John Charriez, 13, were killed in the blaze that destroyed a home at 34 Brown Lane.

Two others were home at the time, one made it out without injury, and another was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Fire crews were called to the home around 12:30am to find the home well-involved.

Firefighters from across the region were called to the home either as part of the firefight or a tanker task force to supply water.

The fire continued to smolder into the morning.

Around 9:00am, the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, when the two deceased residents were found.

A State Police fire marshal is investigating the incident.

Responding were firefighters from Fountain Springs, Lavelle, Englewood, Altamont, Gordon, Shenandoah, Ashland, Aristes, Wilburton, and more, medical personnel from Shenandoah, Ashland, Minersville, and Area Service, and police from Butler Township, Frackville, Shenandoah, and West Mahanoy Township.
