Over 5,000 without power in Ashland area

ASHLAND – Just over 5,000 PPL Electric Utilities customers are without power in Ashland, Girardville, Centralia, and surrounding areas Tuesday.

The electric utility says a combined 5,099 customers are without power in those communities.

The largest outage is one covering Ashland, Centralia, and Aristes, where 2,041 customers are in the dark.

In the Fountain Springs area, 976 are out. In Girardville, 897 are out, and in the Gordon area, 619 are out.

West of there, 425 are out in Lavelle, and 150 are out in Helfenstein.

Several smaller outages have been reported in the Taylorville area and across the Ringtown Valley.

No outages are reported in the Shenandoah Valley or Mahanoy area.

PPL estimates power will be restored by 3pm Thursday and that the cause is weather.
