One dead, one in custody at Dooleyville, per reports

DOOLEYVILLE, Northumberland County – A heavy police presence was seen in this small Mount Carmel Township village Sunday, and, according to local reports, one person is dead and another is in custody.

Police were called to a home on Back Street in Dooleyville around 6:00pm for a reported home invasion.

Since then, Mount Carmel Borough and Township Police, along with a State Police forensic services unit, and Mount Carmel Township Fire Police, have been at the scene, with much of the village shut down.

According to the Sunbury Daily Item, Richard Karlaza was found dead in a home at 21 Back Street, according to a search warrant filed by police.

He was found in a pool of blood with lacerations to his chest and neck, the newspaper reports.

Lisa Karlaza was also taken into custody, the paper reports, and no signs of forced entry were seen at the home, indicating no home invasion had occurred.

Additional details are few, and no charges have been filed.
