SHENANDOAH – The M&J Big Band once again performed at the Shenandoah Valley High School Auditorium, this time performing Christmas music in an event sponsored by Downtown Shenandoah, Inc.

Community members packed the auditorium Friday evening for the concert, featuring various Christmas tunes such as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Santa Baby.

Additionally, songs made famous by Shenandoah’s native Dorsey Brothers were also performed.

Prior to the concert, the Shenandoah Valley Band Boosters held a fundraiser, selling refreshments and other items outside of the auditorium.

The concert was free to attend, though donations were accepted.

The band consisted of 18 musicians, the majority of which are from the Pottsville area, though Shenandoah native Mike McGinn (Tenor Saxophone) and Mount Carmel native Joe Swartz (Trumpet) are members as well.

The band is led and managed by Shenandoah Valley High School band director John Shoener.
