SHENANDOAH – It’s that time of year again, time for the District 24 Little League tournament, time for the best of our local Little Leaguers to come together.

Shenandoah’s 9-10 team opened pool play this afternoon, facing the travelling Pine Grove squad from the west end of the county.

This year’s Shenandoah team consists of Trevor Jefferson, Aiden Longo, Ethan Bench, Sonny Amato, Frederick Gradwell, Cole Meskunas, Cade Preneta, Ryan Examitas, Gene Sinkus, Cameron Quinones, Jowell Burdier, and Brandon Hernandez.

​The players were selected from each Shenandoah Little League team, coming together to play alongside the same players they faced each week during the regular season.

The Shenandoah team suffered their first loss in the game against Pine Grove, falling 18-6 via mercy rule.

The 9-10 team will have three more games in pool play before the elimination portion of the tournament begins. Their next game is on Wednesday, June 26, travelling to Pottsville. On Monday, July 1, the team will travel to Schuylkill Haven, and on Saturday, July 6, they return home to face Cressona. Weekday games are at 5:30pm and weekend games are at 1:00pm.

Shenandoah’s 11-12 team will open pool play on Sunday, facing Minersville at home, then, on Thursday, June 27, the team will travel to Orwigsburg. On Sunday, June 30, they will face Minersville, and on Tuesday, July 2, they return home to face a combination St. Clair – Port Carbon – New Philadelphia team.
