HS FOOTBALL: Spartans blank Salisbury, 48-0

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – North Schuylkill took control of Friday’s game against Salisbury Township early and never looked back.

The Spartans entered the game 6-2 against a winless Falcon squad travelling to Fountain Springs from suburban Allentown.

Senior running back Ricky Halford scored first for the Spartans on a 5 yard touchdown with about eight minutes left in the first quarter.

The senior added another short score on the ground later in the quarter, following up on a pass by senior quarterback Trevor Minalda to senior receiver Collin McGee, to give the Spartans a 21-0 advantage after the first quarter.

In the third quarter, senior receiver Collin Stanakis broke off a 59-yard touchdown run, followed up by a six yard scamper as the Spartans took a 42-0 advantage on senior night.

As younger players were put in the game late, junior Michael Mogish added another score in the 3rd. The Spartans knelt the PAT, taking a 48-0 lead, which they would keep to the end.

The Spartans improve to 7-2 and will travel to Pottsville next week to wrap up the regular season.
