HS BASKETBALL: North Schuylkill girls fall in league final to Blue Mountain, 30-19

POTTSVILLE – Friday’s Schuylkill League girls championship game could be a preview of what’s to come in the District XI 4A playoffs.

North Schuylkill and Blue Mountain entered Friday’s championship as the top two teams in District XI 4A with records of 19-3 and 20-4 respectively.

The contest was a low-scoring defensive battle, where the Eagles led the Spartans by only 4-2 after the first quarter. The two Spartans scores were from the free-throw line.

There weren’t many more baskets in the second quarter, as Blue Mountain went into the locker room with a 9-8 lead.

Blue Mountain widened the lead in the second half, winning their first ever Schuylkill League title 30-19.

The two squads now move on to the District XI 4A playoffs.
