Heights hill milled, lanes shifted

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Traffic ascends the Heights hill at Washington Street in Shenandoah on July 15, 2020.

SHENANDOAH – If you haven’t been through the area in the past few days to notice, the Heights hill has been milled and its lanes have been shifted.

According to PennDOT’s website, the $5 Million project to reconstruct Route 924 from the Pattersonville/Brandonville wye to Frackville has been awarded to the HK Group, and work was permitted to begin in May.

We have reached out to PennDOT to confirm that this is the reconstruction project and to find out what it means for local drivers, particularly in terms of lane changes as pictured, but we have yet to receive a response.

The reconstruction project, according to a prior update from PennDOT, includes Main Street in Shenandoah, the Gold Star Highway, and the Gilberton ramps.
