GIRARDVILLE – The landmark event in this community will not happen in 2024.

The Girardville Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, a springtime mainstay in eastern Pennsylvania, will not be held this year, according to the parade’s website. It was originally set for late March.

It had been delayed or cancelled several times in the past few years because of either weather or the coronavirus pandemic.

A message posted to the parade’s website Thursday cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for the cancellation.

However, the message also says a block party is being organized for St. Patrick’s Day instead.
