Firefighters respond to reported electrical fire in Maple Hill

MAPLE HILL – Firefighters from Mahanoy City and Shenandoah responded to this Mahanoy Township village Tuesday afternoon for a reported electrical fire.

Crews were called around 3:30pm to 27 Maple Street for the reported fire.

Mahanoy City Fire Chief Dan Markiewicz said that an air conditioner had fallen out of a window and “tore the [electrical] socket out of the wall,” giving off sparks.

There was no actual fire, he said, and crews were called as a precaution.

Firefighters from Mahanoy City’s Humane, West End, and Washington Hook and Ladder fire companies responded along with Shenandoah’s Rescue Hook and Ladder, Mahanoy City EMS, Frackville Ambulance, and Mahanoy Township Police.
