FD: Laundry basket atop stove catches fire in Mahanoy Plane

MAHANOY PLANE – A reported fire in this section of Gilberton was ruled accidental, caused by a laundry basket placed atop a stove.

Firefighters were called to 2423 Water Street around 2:45pm for a reported fire.

Frackville Police arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the row home.

Shortly after, Gilberton Assistant Chief Larry Levy arrived along with Mahanoy City West End’s engine.

The fire was quickly knocked down.

No major damage was reported, Levy said.

He said the fire was accidental in nature, resulting from a laundry basket being placed atop a stove.
